MANN FRIDAY

Mann Friday's music grabs you by the scruff of the heart and refuses to lets go. Known for their passionate live performances, the London-based quartet have enjoyed sellout shows at some of the capital's finest music venues, Clapham Grand, Marquee Club, The Half Moon, London Barfly, Borderline and Astoria 2.

Conceived in the small university town of Grahamstown and learning to walk in Cape Town, the band graduated on the London gig circuit and soon built up a dedicated following in their adopted home. Their controversial rock commentary, ‘Zimbabwe Ruins’, ran for 25 nights at the Edinburgh Festival in 2003 to critical acclaim, and went on to Hammersmith's Riverside Studios in 2004. Though unsigned, the band have independently released three albums: The Orchard (2002), Apple Source (2003), and Blue Sky Science (2005), and have had their music featured on Supersport, Sky News' - Year in Review in 2004, and the television series Going Nowhere Slowly. Mann Friday's latest offering, Waiting for the Flash, is poised to break this band through.

In addition to the album launch at the institutional Shepherds Bush Empire (London), Mann Friday will be embarking on their first ever South African tour in April 2009, sharing the stage with many of country's top bands.
