Home to one of the oldest jazz venues in the world, London boasts Ronnie Scott’s in Soho, a name synonymous with jazz which will be 50 years old next year! But for those not quite in there with the genre, we invite you to sample the sounds of the underground – the celebrated trumpet, the smokey lilting jazz voice and the venues which are home to these artists. Most jazz venues do seem to be literally underground too, take Club 606 in Chelsea for example, set in a basement, feeling rather like a secret society meeting spot. And no surprise, since it is an exclusive membership only entry club.......is limited and it will be 10 quid thereafter so as to keep out all the riff raff out. Let the battle begin… |
