Text Box: doing the “We love sounds” festival in Perth & Sydney during July! So many sounds, so little time. Come on summer, come on! But with the splurge of sunshine we should all be more alert to the sounds all around!
Sue Northam, Musie Ed
Text Box: When it is summer, it is all about the summer sounds all around… drinks at pavement bars or on the grass in parks, windows open, traffic panting in the heat and chatter all around. A latent buzz of excitement builds as we work towards the most sacred of institutions – our summer weekends!
Kicking off the month of July in summer splendour is the one and only Jack Johnson – loved by laid back lovers of surfer style rock from SA, Text Box: Aus & NZ alike. Jack is hitting Hyde Park on 2 July! It is in fact a busy month for SA music in London – The Parlotones with Neon Choir, Karma with Louise Carver and Starseed with Feral Sun/Used2bSyris all play in the first week of July alone! Plus on 5 July we see NZ metal rockers Shihad in town too!
And down south, festival season continues despite the lack of summer… Australian Potbelleez are touring NZ & Aus for the Ministry of Sound Sessions tour, as well as Text Box: It's all happening at the beginning of July… Catch two sassy SA talents in one special evening of song. Alphabetically ordered, L follows K - but on 3 & 4 July, K follows L - with Louise Carver supporting Karma on the acoustic stage of the Halfmoon. Think piano and perfection for Louise; delicate in looks and lyrics, lovely Louise will add a splash of gorgeousness to an already sure sell-out gig of Karma's storyteller sessions. Karma is a singer songwriter who has delighted with many a music night at the 'moon! With Karma's upcoming album release of 'Papercuts', audiences will be introduced to more Karmic concoctions fresh off the production plate. Catch these talents – live and unplugged – in this intimate venue on 3 & 4 July! And keep you ear to the ground for a ve special Karma album launch in an even more intimate environment… Hmmm…
