Text Box: November, also commonly known as Movember. Mo – what? Yip, in honour of male cancer it has been renamed Movember – and the challenge is for all males to join this cause and grow a charity Mo’stache! Mmm. Tasty!
Well, all things charity and giving back is where it’s at this month! And with a year of Musies having come your way, bringing you a variety of exciting SA, AUS and NZ music… its also a time of looking Text Box: back on a year gone by! Time to pause, reflect and glance back and consider how you can give back!
And then of course, the clocks have just gone back and as darkness descends we are more likely to be introverted and heading indoors. So we challenge you not to hibernate into the cosy confines of your little world, but to look around you and see what you can do to make a difference in the world… Perhaps by supporting a Text Box: Be part of an event of a different kind – an online event or perhaps it should be called a mission! Taking a shot at breaking a Guinness World Record – this is a global musical movement to reach out with ‘an international anthem of peace and love’ – a magical song called ‘Khululeka’ (freedom in Xhosa!). In aid of the Desmond Tutu HIV Foundation, this special song aims to test the effectiveness of viral messages via digital distribution, with the aim to achieve 1 million downloads worldwide. Endorsed by world famous SA Nobel Laureate Archbishop Desmond Tutu (and containing his spoken word in the song) – this is a powerful track which will gather the momentum of a snowball down a steeple! Khululeka is written by SA singer songwriter James Stewart, in collaboration with the award winning Julie Gold of ‘From a distance’! Lend your hearts to this noble cause for this Nobel endorsing act. Download it and do your bit! Go to James Stewart’s site (Page 3 for links)
